What Sets Backyard Sports Apart?
Application & Selection
Per NCAA Rules: Applications will undergo a thorough review by our team, incorporating recommendations from club, high school, and local coaches, alongside our own evaluations. Open to any and all entrants (limited only by number, age, grade level and/or gender)
Coaching
The staff shares a common ethos: continuous progression throughout their careers. They not only uphold values like diligence, coachability, and a growth mindset but have also applied these principles successfully. They excel in processing feedback, analyzing techniques, and achieving maximum success.
Format
The format integrates a variety of training elements: individual technique drills, small-sided drills, live repetitions, situational drills, half-field and full-field scenarios, and in-game coaching insights. The overarching goal is to foster player development, visibility to college coaches, and accurate evaluation by honing the essential skill sets for collegiate lacrosse success.

The format is meticulously designed to cultivate an environment where players are encouraged to be receptive, expand their skill sets, and elevate their game. Coaches gain unique insights into how players respond to feedback, make strides in improvement, and exhibit intangible qualities that may not surface solely during gameplay. Our aspiration is to showcase players dedicated to growth and hard work—those poised to excel in their collegiate lacrosse careers.

Backyard Sports stands at the forefront as a premier event training service, dedicated to bridging the gap between professional, collegiate athletes, college coaches, and grassroots organizations. This includes clubs and high schools. Our core mission is to lay down the foundational
principles of lacrosse, nurturing talent and passion for the game at all levels.
We achieve this through a comprehensive suite of services designed to elevate the lacrosse experience.
About The Founder
Brian Saulsberry
Brian Saulsberry is a serial entrepreneur and student-athlete from Memphis, TN. He specializes in working with professional athletes and connecting them with youth sports. In 2020, Brian launched Backyard Sports Enterprises, a company that provides athletic training and skill development clinics featuring professional and collegiate athletes, as well as college coaches. The company also designs and distributes athletic training media and creates athletic clothing and gear.

Brian graduated from Baldwin Wallace University in Cleveland, Ohio, where he was a 3-year letter award winner as a Long Stick Midfielder. During his time there, he made three OAC title
appearances and was a 3-time OAC Regular Season Champion.
He currently resides in the Tampa, Florida area and holds a master's degree in entrepreneurship from the University of Tampa. While at the University of Tampa, he was a member of the men's lacrosse team, winning the 2024 Sunshine State Regular Season and the 2024 Sunshine State Championship, as well as making NCAA tournament quarterfinal and semifinal appearances in the same year.
